Hello makers

I work in an Industrial design firm in Sydney Australia and we have a mini 3D printing farm. We have 5 Guider II and 1 Guider IIS, I am having trouble with the Guider II when updating the firmware.

When i try to update via the WIFI, it gives the same message no matter if I change the WIFI source, “something went wrong with the network, try again later”

I decided to use my laptop to plug in via USB and it sends the firmware but then when I reboot the machine (because the machine instructs me to) it’s like nothing has happened. I check the firmware and it is still 2017 firmware. Not sure why, but it is only the happening to 3 of the Guider II which are the latest Guider II model (but not the Guider IIS)

Did you figure this out? I have the same issue.

On the Guider II if you are on the original firmware you will need to update via USB using a USB stick.
I don’t have the firmware version numbers handy but I think it will be a pre 20170927 or something like that.
After that first update which fixes the USB updating then updating via USB and Flashprint will work.

I tried one using the wifi and it bricked my board. $400 for a new board. So be warned there!

You need to first clean the update mark and then update the firmware via USB stick.

The MD5 clearance file is enclosed and the steps are following.

1）Format the USB flash disk to FAT32

  1. Copy the flashforge-resetUpdateMd5-171226.zip into the flash disk

  2. Unzip flashforge-resetUpdateMd5-171226.zip to the root directly

  3. Insert the flash disk to the printer and restart it, then the printer will enter into a screen to clean the update mark

  4. After this steps, you will here a sound from the printer. Pls shout down the printer and pull out the USB flash disk.

Then you need to update the firmware via USB sticker after cleaning the MD5 mark. The steps are following and the link is for firmware.

Upgrade steps:
1, format the USB stick first
2, save the guider2.0.zip into the USB stick
3, decompression guider2.0.zip to the root directory of the USB stick
4, the printer shutdown, USB stick inserted into the printer USB Host port
5, restart the printer, prompting the completion of the upgrade.
6, the Mainwindow - Tools - About you can see Firmware Version, indicates an upgrade success

  1. Update the firmware again.

Check your firmware version before running any of this. If it is older than a specific version, don’t remember which but I can check, then it must be updated by USB stick to fix the USB port issues. After that updating from Flashprint should work.

You can check the display also. With the printer on look at the top right on the display where the thermometer is and with the USB cable plugged in do you see the 3 prong USB emblem. If no then that may also indicate the firmware must be updated by USB stick.

Also, each new firmware version will tell you what version must be that is installed on the printer in order to update to the newer version. You need to do them in order.

Also be very careful using the fix above. I ran it per Flashforge when it wasn’t actually needed and it bricked my printer. They would not warranty the board after that either so $400 later …
