Okay, I hope someone here can help. I am having a problem with uneven layers on my prints as can be seen in the picture attached. I tried changing the filament, tried cleaning the extruder, tried changing the printing speed, the X/Y travel speed and nothing works.

I have noticed that the problem starts a couple of centimeters into the print and gets worse the higher the print goes.

It is very frustrating and I need to find a solution. please, if you have any thoughts…share them.

do you check for loose belt/pulley?

My guess would be your z axis rod is bent, or your belts need to be tightened, maybe both. I had problems with ribbing along the z axis, which I fixed by getting the upgraded build plate platform. If the ribbing is in a consistent pattern, it’s probably your z axis rod.

This might help.

If you are printing on glass is it moving? looks like something is loose and moving in X and Y axis. May want to make sure the spring tensions Clips on the belts are tight and in place.

Checked all the poly and the belt tension and it is all as tight as I believe they should be. I am printing directly on the hot bed so no moving parts on the platform. I printed the test print below yesterday so try and get a better understanding of the pattern. from what I can see, both the cylindrical and angular ends are printing very well and the dimentions of the print are very accurate. however, the ridges are still there although they are very tiny. something is wrong, I know I should be getting a smoother print.

I am printing at 0.2000 Layer hight

Printing Speed 3600mm/min

X/Y axis movement 4200 mm/min

Z Axis Movement 1200 mm/min

and I increased the heat from 230c to 245c on ABS

Is there a proper way to test for Z axis wobble?

if you put the part a side of the z rod and the print fit the threads of the Z threaded rod. it’s a Z wobble. so for the fix, not a easy one. i don’t have a Flashforge. but the best way to fis it is to install a z threaded rod stabilizer, like you can find here http://www.thingiverse.com/search/page:1?q=z+wobble&sa=
