Hey guys, this is my first time building a 3d printer and after quite a bit of man hours I finally have it all assembled. I plugged the power in, loaded my sd card with a small object to print, set it to preheat pla and waited for it to print. An important note here is that it preheated to 200 for the hot end and 60 for the bed. When it first started printing the filament was not sticking onto the bed, and was pooling around the hot end. I stopped the print, cleaned the nozzle, and tried to get it to print again. However, when it started to heat up again to start printing the bed would not get past 23 degrees. I then tried flashing a firmware from marlin but that didnt work. Now, my lcd screen just shows solid blocks and not letting me interact with it. Now sounds when I try clicking the dial. Did I flash the firmware wrong, or do the wiring wrong?
Also, I am using the standard bed tevo tarantula.
If you are assembling a 3D printing kit for the first time, it is better to read the user manual beforehand. Also, if there are some online tutorials available to assist your needs, this would be even better to assemble the 3D printing kit.
I did follow the user manual to assemble the printer as well as following tutorial on youtube. Right now the printer is assembled, but it wont print. The lcd display does not display anything despite trying to flash a new firmware.
So I was able to fix the LCD display, but I still have the problem that my heated bed is not heating up. When I start the preheat procedure it display the bed already at 20 degrees, and while my hot end is done heating up the bed has not gone past 20 degrees. A little while later I get a “HEATING FAILED” error and it asks me to reset.
After doing various tests with a multimeter I found out that my heated bed had shorted out within the first 5 minutes of my printer being on…yay. I have contacted gearbest to request a replacement.
