Anyone having extruded PVA to create filament for printing? At which temp did you extrude? I have problems with the filament diameter(too thick, even at 180 C and also varies widely with time and extruder loading)…

Hey gioumou,
most PLA filaments require a heat of 180-200 degrees Celsius. You should check your printer manual/ instructions to find the diameter of the filament in order to get the correct filament. The filament should also give instructions for the heat settings as well.
Hope this helps
I was refering to PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) not PLA filament. Thanks anyway…

I’m sorry for miss interpreting this. I though you miss spelt PLA. It seems like a bizarre way to make filament, which I have never come across before.
Apologies. I hope you find a solution to this problem.
You will find that the diameter of the extruded filament is controlled by the speed of the extruder’s screw
Yes but my extruder doesn’ t support speed control… Any other ideas?
Then, you will need to upgrade it to support speed control so you can control it’s thickness.
If you google filastruder or lyman filament extruder or speed controller.
You should be able to improve your project.
