Hello,
So number one I am a 14 year old that basically graduated to go to ninth. So this is my review on 3D printing. So from start to finish I have learned a lot about technology and 3D Printers. I am located in California. So lets start:
So as I was walking by some day in Home Depot I saw the Dremel 3D Idea Builder, in sixth grade at about age 11-12. So this is a note, I did kind of now a little like some new and their were printers in universities, but not much. We went by looked for a minute and let.
Half a year went by, then the teacher in school announced a Makerbot Mini. Never used it. Plus, it is so expensive for litterly nothing.
In continuation, moved a year to 7th I was like 12-13 years old. In the beginning of the year. I was alert that we were getting a 3d printer. Still kind of holding back until we got it, really did not care. So it was supposed to be a large Makerbot, but they turning to an Airworlf 3D HD. When it came I was amazed. I did so much research, I basically was the real 3d nerd of the school , knew how to design, even in my computer classes. Next 3 months, I begged my parents for a printer, and they said no…no… and no. Then , they finally said yes!
So my step one was to find a low cost, good value printer. Came across the , Micro 3D Printer for $349. It was in preorder so we waited for like a month, and never arrived so we canceled it. So waste of a month waiting. Next, found the Da Vinci 1.0 from Xyzprinting at Best Buy for $499 costed like $550 with tax and shipping.
It was horrible. So looked like a good printer saw some reviews, some were horrible, but from best buy, they had a return policy so a a bad decision for a first printer. I was a horrible experience. The first printer that I unboxed had a broken hotend end, mostly the thermistor. Second , clogged after a week of time. The third printer, did the same thing. Now, I was not too experience so a printer that had problem I would not fix. So for 15 days, I was with the Da Vinci. A side note it is not open-source which now I view as bad, and the slicer took so much time. Finally, we fully returned I and my dad used the money on something else.
During the time he said he would buy me another one. I did not want the Da Vinci. So I was debating on the ROBO, Craftbot, and Dremel 3D. I picked the worst and more expensive Dremel.
So the first one clogged after a week. The Second, came clogged and use, some thing happened. The 3rd worked and my experience was easier to unclog, it had leveling issues, but I used it for like 6 months, and 900 hrs. We sold it on Ebay.
So I finally went to the open-source ROBO. Only two printers, about. So the first one worked great, no clogging until 3 months, great printer. One day, my glass bed broke because I used he wrong glue, then clogged, and now leveling issues. So we are now trading it for another one with RoBo 3D’s help. Okay, support, at least better than the other ones.
I would like to hear your experience.
