As a huge fan of Charles and Ray Eames, ever since I saw this model, I knew it had to be printed! So allow me to introduce you to my Eames House Bird designed by the talented Ibudmen 3.
I used the BEETHEFIRST with more or less the standard settings:
Resolution: high
Density: 60%
Raft: yes
Support: no
Filament: brown PLA
Print time: +/- 7 hours
If you look closely though you’ll notice 2 ‘mistakes’ that, in a way, make the print wonderfully imperfect:
There’s a wing-like contour right where the wings should be, because of printing in mid-air (filament got stuck and noticed this after a few minutes). What a cool ‘accident’ huh?
Also, did you notice the ‘punk effect’? Well that’s because of the rafts. Which we shouldn’t have used in the first place. Lesson learned, but still I love the added ruggedness to the otherwise perfect minimalist design.
Nice print @Gabs! I’ve been playing with the on-loan Ultimaker that @mifga and Ed left with us for the week! Thanks guys it’s been awesome to print on these. I ran the lump print below on the Ultimaker 2 last night with good, clean results. Yes, the print is actually a light fitting, but @ydg54ymail and @rhinoceros use them as pen holders.
Oops sorry @gabriela3d! So what are you printing today? My coffee print for National Coffee Day was a … fail. I think today may be ‘Self Watering Pot Plant’ print day. I love the independence of a plant that can take care of itself
