I am making a dual extruder printer but also wish to have a dedicated fan for each nozzle which is independently active. Most controller boards I have seen seem to only have one fan even if it supports 2 nozzles. So do you think it is bad to basically unplug one fan an then plug another in while power it being supplied to the fan?
I understand unplugging a stepper motor is really bad while energized as this will destroy a stepper driver in most cases. wondering if this is true for something like the fans. If possible I plan to have a mechanical system on the gantry basically flip a switch to flip flop the fans. This will give me better control over the switching of materials like blast the fan for the one cooling and turn the one off for the extruder heating up. And this may also depend on the board being used.
