Hello, My name is Scott Miller. I’m from Bensalem, Pa. I run a small class for kids to learn 3D Printing and get to make fun, Awesome things. I have two 3D printers, a CubeX duo and a Cube 3. Both have been a nightmares and nothing but problems. The software is horrible! Using cubitmod and Kisslicer made things better, but the prints still are not that great compared to newer 3D printers and with no heated bed, it’s impossible to print abs. I have replaced the motherboard twice on the cube x duo and now it went again. The cube 3 prints great but the propriety filament cartridges are beyond expensive. Some other great guys have spent countless hours working on the firmware to get around it. I loaded their new firmware but I still can’t get it to print. If this printer could do bigger prints and had a heat bed, it would be great. I don’t get paid for the class. I run this class because I love working with kids and teaching them the things I have learned, So one day they can use this knowledge for a better future. Also, my two daughters, 11 & 12 attend the class! Nowadays it is hard to keep children interested and focused on Anything that involves Learning, Lol But with the two 3D printers I own, it is a million times harder!! The cube 3 can only prints small objects and basically only in pla unless you use their expensive glue that still hardly works, the corners are always pulling up. I provide everything to run the class and everyone here knows how much that cost just for yourself. Now imagine that plus 8-10 more kids lol. I have tried sending emails and Letters to must of the big company’s that make 3D printers, most never even responded. The 2 that did said they could offer a small discount and that they already have scoops on a list that they donate too. I even talked about taking pictures and video of my class using their 3D printer to show how easy it is for kids to use.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I am Disabled. I have type 1 Diabetes and kidney failure. I am 33 years old, divorced, father of two Beautiful girls. I lost my Father 4 years ago from surgery and my Mother passed away a few months ago from a blood clot. So, Family is kind of out of the question to ask for help! I’m sorry for getting so personal, but I thought it would be better to come out and tell you everything, So you understand why I am posting this instead of just working and saving up for a new 3D printer for my class. I wanted to see if anyone on here had a 3D printer they wanted to donate for a good cause. I know a lot of us might have just gotten a new 3D printer and their old 3D printer is just sitting in a box on the shelf.
So, if anyone wants to help out, I’m always in need of any 3D printng supples or 3D printers. Would be great to have a couple 3D printers, so the kids could print out their work. Sharing 1 3D printer is tuff! Please send me a msg, I would love to hear from you. If anyone even has a broken 3D printer they are tired of and would like to get rid of it. I would love to take it off your hands. We can def use it and fix it!!! I even ran a soldering class with my class a few months back so the children know how to solder!! It’s amazing when you see a 10 year old girl that knows how to solder!!! I really want to start my class back up, but can’t till I get a 3D printer here that works! Thank you for taking the time to read this.
