Would you be able to print some of these face plates out as a test and mail them to me? I would love to see the different thicknesses. You can just print them in PLA.
Unless it is thicker.
Yeah, it’s a nightmare trying to get this printed without having a printer and knowing little about this filament.
That model is not a simple or efficient print so no, you would have to order the full prints. This is why I suggested small plates of different thickness. They can be printed on a non-production printer and don’t require as much time or material as the full model. Plates would give you a way to see how the different materials hold up and what they look like.
That is actually really smart. Would you be able to do that for me?
Yes, just put an inquiry in my hub and list the thickness(es) you want. I can source a roll of the actual material you are looking for as well. https://www.3dhubs.com/grand-rapids-mi/hubs/miaviator Shouldn’t our hub pages be automatically linked?
One other thing, if you coated standard PLA or petg in XTC-3D or another clear epoxy with some metal powder or casting powder from smooth-on or alumilite you could likley get the redish and goldish colors with a high shine. https://www.smooth-on.com/products/cast-magic/ 1 Alumilite - Mold Making & Casting Resins 1
Ok, thanks! Yeah your hub is linked!
Awesome! Could I do this with proto-pasta stainless steel?
Yes. If you polished up the filament and then coated it with a powder laced epoxy it would quite awesome.
Thanks so much!
