Hey folks,
anyone try this software, ‘DesignSpark Mechanical’ ? Found it quick to learn, uses direct modelling like PTC Creo and FREE ! The interface looks the same as the ANYSYS SpaceClaim software.
Found it here; http://designspark.com/mechanical
Made a few basic models and 3D printed them by outputting as an STL. Even works for reverse engineering; scanned a 3D object and made an exact replica of it !
Its also got this one real nice feature called ‘Pull’ that allows you to quickly turn any 2D sketches into 3D and perform operations like rounding, chamfering, etc. Very useful for a Design engineer like me.
Share your experiences with this software if you’ve got any ?

I use DesignSpark Mechanical almost exclusively for all my 3d printing modelling projects. Sketchup and FreeCad are simply not in the same league. I can model a moderately complicated part in DSM in a small fraction of the time that it would take in the other two packages.
This is one of the youtube videos that convinced me to give it a try:

Appreciate the feedback, Dan ! Any interesting project created with DSM you’d like to share ?
Personally, I’m a big fan of aeronautics. Working on miniature models of the Saturn-V and Discovery orbiter !
