I believe you can test thermistors with a multimeter but they are a few pounds or dollars each and fiddly wires I wouldn’t want to strip. So I’d buy a new one along with a heating element and wait to try them. There is a small board on the extruder that might be the cause as well but I fear you have to do go XYZ for that part. I do feel it’s just a crappy thermistor though, anything else would either not work at all or just work, the thermistor however can be giving weird values.

the DaVinci isn’t bad, it was cheap when I got mine 5 years ago I think but I have since then installed Repetier and installed a new E3D extruder and hot end. If you feel it’s a bust then I’d look for a printer that’s already Repetier and open source, they are much cheaper now.

It could be a short in the extruder wiring, use a multimeter I also have had that issue. also ended up putting new connectors because the cheap crap to fix the problem.

The new motherboard Did cost me $75

from Xyz printing

The Da Vinci is not a bad printer

It’s very easy to modify

All the best
