I know there are a million posts about this but I’m still scratching my head on this. My extruder randomly stops extruding. I’m running repetier for DaVinci I’ve rewired the heater cartridge right back to the mother board. *fixed - heater decoupling issue* Cleaned and shimmed the idler wheel *occasionally still getting clicking noise regardless of level on bed* I clean the extruder tip before every print wire brush the outside tried just about everything there. I know the print head cartridge is cap but I don’t want to go through the rigging of setting up an e3d v6 conversion. Is ordering the replacement pla capable extruder cartridge assembly from studica.Com 3 Worth the risk?
Have you "seasoned " the hotend? PLA is hard to extrude, use canola oil, wipe it on 2’ of filimant and feed it through hotend. Make sure the clamping force at your knurled wheel is not too loose or to tight, if it is to tight the filiment can be deformed into a shape that does not fit into the opening of the hotend. The clicking needs to stop!!!
The print quality difference between the E3D and xyz head are separated by light years, there is one, 844221, thingverse that is awsome, and one, 707530, that keeps almost everything stock.
Right now I’m just printing in abs. I’ve been getting an issue where it just stops extruding altogether. I’ve removed and filed the idler wheel, added a plastic shim to get it working again. Solved my clicking issue. But now it just randomly stops extruding. I did tighten the screw that holds the arm and acts as a pivot. I’ll try loosening it and see if that make a difference on the tension. Right now I’m busy cleaning out the head right now. I discovered a small guitar string fits into the nozzle and gives me enough length to push the crap all the way out of the head. Hopefully now that all that stuff is out things will work better. Everything was fine until I had a bunch of 36hr run time parts. I have the feeling it just wasn’t designed for actually making use of the entire build volume all at once.
Thanks for the offer. I just have an original 1.0. I’ve ordered one from studica.com 13 they ship to Canada unlike xyz. I’ve also ordered a dual head prusa i3 with dual e3d v6’s they’re probably clones but should still be night and day above the DaVinci.
I’ve never had an issue. I do use simplify3D instead of xyzware which gives you the chance to change heat. I’ve run my da vinci’s for days at a crack with only pauses to remove prints with no issues.
What filament are you using? I’ve found xyz natural PLA jams like crazy but black prints no problem. I’ve now moved to a resetter and using hatchbox PLA but I’m trying other brands as well.
So I got the new print head extruder unit and everything has been great up til now. Same issue. Heats up then Decouple. Or stops extruding during the print. I’ve seen with 1.0a there is a fix for the resistor Fuse to an online fuse but my pins are different as I have an original. Does anyone know where the little fuse/resistor is on the original board so I can fix my issue?
