I went to clean the nozzle tip and the 2 heat blocks touched. now the right extruder stepper wont turn when I try to load filament have swapped stepper motors with the left and still no luck any help would be greatly appreciated
no I did not because then in the slicer software I need to tell it to print with the left nozzle and my slicer crashed and I cant get how to change nozzles on Cura not unless I’m missing something simple all though I have been over thinking it lol
I will help you try to isolate and troubleshoot the problem you are having. Full disclosure, I don’t own a CTC Dual.
Firstly, most 3D printers will not let you use the extruder stepper motors unless you are heating the nozzle to 180C (min temp).
Whenever you are switching wires/and electronics components make sure the power is disconnected.
Maybe the problem is in the wiring, try switching the wiring. Take the wiring from the left extruder and use it for the right extruder if possible.
If this works, it means there is something wrong with the wiring on the right side.
Maybe it’s a motor issue, try plugging in the right motor to the left extruder and see if it runs. If it works, you can be sure that it’s not a motor issue.
If it doesn’t it could be a motor issue.
Finally, check the wiring in the electronics box, maybe something is loose. Maybe the stepper driver is damaged.
You can check if it’s a stepper driver problem by switching the left and right stepper drivers. If it works, it means your right extruder stepper motor blew out.
If it doesn’t it means it’s not a stepper driver issue.
Let us know what happens, and if any of these worked for you.
ty that’s what it was killed the stepper chip does anybody know what the factory stepper chip is so I can get a new one for I can print in dual colours again ty in advance
You need to figure out what type of stepper driver you need. If your stepper driver is green it most likely is the A4988 and if it’s people it’s probably the DRV8825.
