I’m fairly new to 3d printing and a couple of months ago purchased a Creality CR-20 for printing d&d minis and terrain. All was well for some time until a couple of weeks ago print after print kept failing and failing early. I followed a few different tutorials and eventually I noticed that the flow is uneven. It will start the first three or four centimeters fine, but after come out in a thin thread with a blob every couple of millimeters. I put in a new nozzle and made sure the bowden tube is in securely and the nozzle is clear because I just put in a clean one and I’m still getting the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated as I’m still finding my stride with 3d printing and this has been a bit frustrating.
I added a picture of my most recent attempt. This was immediately after putting in a brand new nozzle.
recur the bowden tube on both ends and make sure they are cut as flat as possible. After inserting them to the cold end and the extruder as far as they will go, insert the clips on the couplers. Now push the tube manually in and out of the couplers on both ends for a little while and make sure they are not getting a little bit of freeplay after repeated movements. They should stay completely still inside the coupler and not allow any up or down movement.
If you find that there is movement, take a zip tie and put it under the press in release collar for the coupler where u have the clip and pull it tight. this should fix the issue.
If you find that this does fix the issue i would recommend getting new couplers. the creality ones are often cheap dodgy crap.
Another thing to check. the inlet hole on the extruder that pulls the filament in from the spool. make sure it is still a nice clean round circle and haunt worn a groove into it if it is a plastic one. if it has, replace it with an all metal extruder.
Hope this helps. good luck!
