Anyone else frustrated by the status against your hub that says “Cannot print invoices” when what it actually means for UK Hubs is “Cannot provide VAT invoice”?

There’s no restriction on providing an invoice from a non-vat registered company or individual but the way this is listed makes it appear I cannot provide even a receipt for my services.

Even thou I live in DK its the same here.

But i found out that the customer can always click and get an invoice from 3Dhubs

I find this somewhat annoying too. It rather removes our legitimacy as a business too, which stings considering that I am a registered business at Companies House. The fact that according to the site I can’t give an invoice is misleading and potentially, I feel, damaging to my ability to bring in orders, especially from other businesses.

if you are a registered business then just change the settings to that you can print an invoice?

According to 3Dhubs you have to be VAT registered. And in the UK not all businesses are VAT registered. You don’t have to register for VAT exemption until you earn over £83,000 per annum. I would love to say that I earn that much, but not quite yet.

yes it says “In the EU, only businesses with a VAT registration qualify to provide VAT invoices.”

but what you tick yes to is not that… you say yes to this: “Yes, I can supply my customers with a valid invoice”

read it like you would read traffic law… not what you think is written but what is actually written

dont know if that translates well in to the UK world but i would disregard the VAT stuff and just say yes to that you can make an invoice… of course you cant mention VAT on the invoice, but its still an invoice

Hey guys, sorry for the slow response! Firstly, thanks for the suggestion - we will forward this to our design team in order to make it clearer. Just to explain our reasoning behind it: we had numerous customers in Europe giving us feedback saying that they were expecting VAT invoices when they read “Hub can provide invoice”, so we adjusted our wording in order to manage customers’ expectations. Many of our European Hubs are also registered for VAT, so it shouldn’t be a problem. However, we are aware that in some countries (like the UK), the VAT registration threshold is quite high.

It’s the same situation here in Canada. Invoice is different from an European VAT invoice (which has it’s own regulations).

Most customers assume the invoice to be a receipt. And not having the “can provide invoices” option on your profile, I too feel will damage the ability of Hubs to bring in order from business clients. But, you also have to keep in mind that 3D Hubs does operate in 140 countries, so it’s difficult for them to comply with all the tax/invoice regulations. I think it will take them some time to figure out a solution.

I’d also like an option here. 3D Hubs should offer two choices, one for those who are VAT registered, and those who are not (but still registered as a valid business).
