Hi,

I do not know anything about 3D printing. What I would like to do is reproduce a finial that goes on a curtain rod. I only have one but would like to have 8 of them. Do I have to have a bunch of formulas or coordinates that describe the shape, or can I just give someone the object that I have and have it 3D printed?

Hello

Hubstreet

You can have it 3d scanned or you can have a cad designer design it and then have it 3d printed.

And if you do have it 3d printed I wood be more then happy to print it for you i have a form 1+ with resolution that goes as low as 25 microns or you can have it standard resolution.

Thanks

Hey Paula,

I’m sure @Alexander_8 will be able to do it for you. He’s in your area.

Adam?

Cheers,

Hi Paula. It’s a pretty simple process to have it reproduced. I have the software to recreate it and can paint it as well. We have several printers, so we can accommodate any size part. You can check out my hub Juan’s hub in Somerville or 3di’s hub in Milton.

this is more a job for molding and casting because of time cost and material selection. - www.reynoldsam.com

however, some hubs have 3D scanners if it is complicated. Others could draw it given a profile and a few dim’s given a simple revolved shape.

Hi Paula,

I am happy you ask this question. The first step is to scan your finial using 3D scanner, and you would get a 3D file. The next step is to upload your file and chose a printer nearby. Based on the info you provide, the printer owner will tell you whether they can be printed. If yes, you just need to wait for couple of days!

If you need more info, I am happy to help!

Best Regards
