So today i decided it was a good day to try to update the firmware on my Ctc 3d printer (flash forge creator knockoff) and my circuit breaker tripped while it was updating. now i am left with my printer that displays nothing on the screen lcd. my computer notices that it connects however, makerware will not recognize that a printer is connected so i cant try to re-flash the firmware any ideas?

Have you tried connecting via ReplicatorG? I have a CTC that displays blocks on the LCD. I’ve been told it could be one of the 16MhZ crystals on the board or it could be a blown capacitor or it could be fine and I just can’t get the timing right while trying to reflash it. I’m about to buy a new board and call it a day.
I’d guess the hardware is all fine, and you can likely recover it. The board just likely doesn’t have enough code programmed onto it for makerware to recognize it. Try something along these lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC4Pv15Ibco

Hey mine also had the blocks on the screen. it seems its likely timing of the buttons, after about 20 tries updating with repG i was able to get it to work. give it a few more tries it worked for me.
You can reflash your controller with a new bootloader via an ISP adaptor like “usbasp” or something else.
I had that problem with my printer too.
With the new bootloader it cann communicate again via serial/USB.
Blocks in the board indicate wrong firmware. You have a rep 1 dual clone. You most likely installed firmware for rep 2
You just need to keep trying the timing of the button and pressing the updated button. Just remember only press the reset button once per attempt, you will need to ensure it times out. Just for Fyi, flashforge motherboard comes with c20 capacitor installed and will do auto reset.
did you also same time unable to connect to replicatorg and makerware i vant connect after first try but it just failes the timing screen is just blocks . so is it just keep trying ?
Make sure you are first stopping conveyor services in makerware, before trying to connect with repG. Makerware even when not launched will hijack the USB connection, with it installed you must always lunch the program, stop the conveyor, close the program, then launch repG and connect.
