I was having trouble controlling the temperature setting via the makerbot software so I decided to update the firmware… well, fr some reason I thought this had makerbots firmware loaded so I went to their site and tried to update… but now it is completely non functional. Computer doesn’t recognize it when plugged into USB, no lights on printer, no action at all. What’s next? new board? where do I find them?

google groups has good information there is no short answer, I would buy a programer or two for five bucks and reflash it. google has some awesome links, but it complicated and no short answer. I would flash sailfish 7.8

I actually have a similar issue. A thermocouple died and I tried to replace it with another. Instead I got a runaway temperature problem and had to shut it down. I am in the process of replacing the heater cores with ones that use thermisters and replacing the board with something I can easily configure, like a Smoothie. Good luck getting any kind of timely support from CTC.

You need to buy an AVR programmer to reflash it. With an UNbricked, you can do this via software such as Rep G or makerware. With a bricked, you do this with an AVR programmer.

The google group Redirecting to Google Groups 2 will answer how to do it.

Also, the flashforge group, search it. Redirecting to Google Groups 3

You need to flash it with Sailfish firmware, NOT makerbot firmware.
