Hello I have been trying to print with black PLA recently and while printing with it I have had nothing but issues out of it. With little help just googling the issues. the main issue is that the filament has gotten stuck in the motors multiple times while printing. and I have had to take apart the motor and take the clog out. providing a picture for that. it usually does this about half way though the print. another problem it seems like the filament is extra rubbery or wet. it stretches a lot more and when i take something off the build plate without letting it cool. it acts like its rubber until it hardens after about 2 minutes. printing with any other color using the same settings does not cause any of these problems tho. I have been playing with settings over and over just getting some failed prints and other prints that come out but are very bad or stringy. any input would be a big help.
Hey Nicho,
My first questions for you are, where are you storing the material when you are not using it and what brand of filament is it?
its on the back of my flashforge creator pro, and ive only had this roll for about 3 days now. just ordered it. and the brand is flashforge as well
I have a few ideas on what could be wrong:
- The alignment between your idler and hobbed gear is off forcing the filament to not be in line with the top of your extruder
- This would be a long shot but it could be that the filament, before you got it, could have been in a very moist environment causing it to have a more rubbery effect than typical pla
- The temperature of your hot end could be off. Depending on what kind of heat cartridge you have they do decrease in efficiency over time. If your hot end is not hot enough or is not melting the plastic as it goes into the hot end than this type of thing happens.
Those are just some of my thoughts. Hope they help and if you have anymore questions just let me know.
the printer its self is still pretty new, ive had to lower the heat of the extruder just to get it to print like it is right now. from 210 to 180 now and its still just seeping out of the nozzle and being rubbery as if it was too hot. ive lowered it down to 160before and that seems to be the temp where it ill barely extrude. for the last two test prints ive had i changed the feedrate from 60 to 30 and i havnt been haveing the jamming issue yet. im always worried about it tho cause its a pain to take it apart every time. but the prints quality is still so bad that almost dont wanna print with the filament. i have a small printed filament filter on the printer to keep the filament clean also.
nvm on the jamming yet. just did it again lol
What print speed are using?

Return it to whomever you purchased it from. Order from a better brand, such as Sainsmart.
BLACK and dark colored PLA from china, and specifically from flashforge, cannot be trusted. I think they throw anything that will melt into that stuff.
I had two rolls that had the same issues. I finally returned it. It was just the same as the issues you are having.
Order something different, see if you have the same problem. You may find that it is all about crap PLA from china.
