If you want to print colored (textured) figurines, then there aren’t too many options. For a low cost solution, try Sense from 3DSystems. The quality of data is not great, but it’s very inexpensive (under 500 pounds). If you want something of higher quality, there is the Artec Eva scanner or the Thor3D scanner (http://thor3dscanner.com/3d-scanner-thor/). Both are between 10 and 20K. There is also the Creaform GoScan, but that’s even more expensive.

As for printers, for a long time there was only one option - 3D Systems Z printer 650 (or now 660) (http://www.3dsystems.com/3d-printers/professional/projet-660pro). But that is quite pricey. Now I’ve seen some similar printers coming out from Asia (http://3dpandoras.com/) for a fraction of the cost, but those companies are start ups…so I’m not sure the quality of the print is very good yet. I would probably wait another year before purchasing those. They need sometime to get the kinks out.
