At school, I used Stratasys uprint SE Plus. The printer uses ABSplus material. I found it strong enough for my purpose. Are prints made by printers like Up Box + and Ultimaker 2/3 as strong? I think these printer just use normal ABS material.

If you have specifications available for ABSplus material then you can request a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for your model and compare results with regular ABS. A company named 3D Matter specializes in it: Ocean of Games

Normal ABS will be 90% similar to any fancy ABS used by that printer. As long as you’re happy with slightly lower surface quality you should be good with using a low cost printer with decent quality filament. Companies like filabot, eSun sell special varieties of ABS you might want to look at.

Hope this helps!

I would disagree to this statement regarding surface quality.

Surface quality on desktop 3d printers is much better than on the stratasys uprint, which is 0.25mm or 0.33mm whilst Ultimaker and the likes deliver 0.1mm as standard.
