I’ve been trying a bit here and there to get a spool of black acetal filament to work with my printrbot simple metal with heated bed upgrade. It doesn’t want to adhere to blue tape, or plain masking tape(which has always worked better for me than blue).

Today I was able to get it to stick to the tape after sanding the tape, but the edges curled up so quickly that I stopped the print after a few layers. I also tried printing on brown paper glued down to the tape, still curled up at the edges. So has anyone made this stuff work?

I’ve been using the extruder between 220 and 225, and the bed from 70 to 100 degrees. The filament is Gizmo Dorks 1.75mm Acetal filament.

Hey, I’ve read a little about this filament. It seems to have some pretty interesting properties - what’s unique with this one? I think we don’t have this filament on our system so I can’t see if anyone else is using it. We should def add it!

The filament is made of the same resin as Delrin, a brand name of DuPont, I think. It typically comes in sheets or blocks and is milled. It is very strong and wear resistant. I wanted to use it to make some mechanical parts that would be impact resistant, as PLA and ABS tend to shatter with impact.

Any findings you are willing to share? I just started messing with the stuff and am finding it very hard to work with!
