So I’ve read quite a few threads about the various ideas regarding removing prints from the bed.
I plan to try some of them moving forward…but I have a question/issue which I don’t see addressed.
I did my first print yesterday on my A8. It was a simple open faced box about the size of a credit card and about 1cm deep. My stock bed was heated to 60 and had the tan painter’s-like/masking tape as shipped.
I tried to remove the print after giving it a few minutes to cool (bed probably cooled to around 30) but it was stuck fast. I realize that having about 50 square cm of surface area in a rectangle was probably a lot and since I was in a rush to go (and take my print with me), I decided I would just remove the tape from the bed. The bed had 3 strips of tape on it with my print being wholly on the middle strip.
However, when I attempted to peel the tape up it ripped on both sides of the print.
I don’t understand why this happened. If I epoxy a 10 lb weight to a sheet of wood I should be able to lift that sheet up of the ground without an issue. What was causing the tape under the print to be “super-adhered” to the bed that I couldn’t even peel it up?
In the end I had to heat the bed to about 80 and wiggle it off. Caused a bit of warping/bending but luckily it fell back into form after removed.
