Hey guys I will be buying my first 3d printer kit within the next month or so and would like some opinions on these 3 printer and some suggestions on some others. I’m pretty good with my hands so I’m not worried about the build its self but would like to get the highest quality for 300 or under as possible. I would like a 200mm×200mm build volume or larger heated bed and multiple materials I’m most interested in pla abs and flexible many some exotics. The 3 printers iv narrowed down to in my own research are. The folgertech prusa i3 2020 The anet a8 And the hictop i3 What’s your guys experience with these and other recommendation. Thanks guys happy printing

I have an Anet A8 and I recommend it. If you work to ser up this printer properly you will ser good results

Hello Jake,

I highly recommend this one for you. Yite ET-i3 build volume 200x200x200mm (Larger size optional) 9

There are basic version and top version. Top version comes with some practical functions as below:

Add an Additional Extruder To print in two colors or two materials in one session. With it you can print a soluble filament as support to get more smooth surface of complex parts.

Auto-Detect and Alarm Filament Runs Out No need to stay there for watching the machine anymore.

Power Outage Memory If electrical power is interrupted when printing, only one click needed for continuing, which means you could save a lot filaments and precious time.

Full Color Touchscreen Much more easier to operate than LCD. What’s more, These two features are only applicable for touchscreen: Power Outage Memory / Auto-Detect and Alarm Filament Runs Out.

Automatic Bed-Leveling Designed for easier calibration.

Larger Build Volume 8 x 11 x 9’’

if you gonna select a great 3d printer, welcome to contact me.

Anet A8 owner here.
I think they’re all very similar to each other except for the Folgertech 2020 which ,from looking at its pictures, has a stronger frame that leads to no Z wobble or shadowing issues that the A8 came with due to the not too sturdy acrylic frame that it has. That being said, once I printed the supporting mods almost all the issues the A8 were solved and now it prints like a charm!
Without really looking into the technical details, my guess is that the 2020 is the printer with least mods required to make it perfect for its price range.

Basel

I have the A8 and am very happey with it. The only downside is that te two z spindels arent linked so they can shift when the motors are off messing up the bed level. I also changed the nozzle to a larger one so it strugls less at high speeds.

Thanks for the awnsers guys I wish there was an option on the a8 to get aluminum frame I really like that one but the hictop has an aluminum frame and I really like that. I’m still hoping some people that have it will respond

In fact, you can upgrade your a8 to have the prusa i3 steel frame for 50$-70$ aprox. That helps a lot in order to avoid vibrations

there’s an example (maybe in other countries there are other offers):

Building this frame it’s not more difficult than the original frame provided.
