There are two types of Celtic Rune stones in Akralon. Scripted and resonating rune stones.
Scripted rune stones tell a tale of something historical that happened at that location.
Resonating rune stones, with one rune per side, breathe a kind of aura that affects anyone in the area.
To make this rune stone I began with a simple shape in Maya and took that into Mudbox to add the runes and beat it up a bit. The result was a model in the millions of polygons which is pretty intense for such a piece. I have optimized it but still prefer to print the ultra high poly-count version as the layers from prints seam to dissolve away with the texturing.
At only about 4cm tall I printed this at 50microns with My Ultimaker Original, I think 100microns will print nicely as well.

That could be kind of cool to set up as a Mood stone or something. Except I would always have mine set to happy, and that’s no fun.
These are intended for use as board game props or miniatures or really any situation since they’re easily scale-able. Eventually we would like to bundle these up into a full board game with back story and themes and offer that as a pack. Of-course you can always add these to your own game and story with whatever story you want.
