anyone have any experience using ACETONE for smoothing their prints, using PLA? It has to be trricky, and any help would greatly appreciated

All you can do is try it on a waste piece with a wet white only rag, color rag will discolor on the print.
What it can also do is discolor the color print if you use to much. Moe
Acetone does not work with PLA, it only creates a rougher surface I dont recommend it. I usually have good luck with sandpaper, files, dremels, and a coat of polymer.
Acetone won’t touch it. I tried. There is a product that I use from smooth-on that’s is a 2 part epoxy that you paint on when it cures it makes it glass smooth.

PLA does dissolve in chloroform, like ABS in acetone.
