a6 no sd card problem

I had the printer working fo a week and managed to get some descent prints from it. At one point it stopped reading the sd card, it just came up “No sd card”

I put it back in the computer and it was fine, I did a scan on it anyway and found nothing. then put it back in the a6 and printed another couple of prints.

I turned the printer on after a week of not using it and again, it says no sd card.

I have tried checking the card, it still has all the files on, I tried a new card (it was a big one though so will try a smaller one just in case)

But it still says “No sd card”

has anyone got any ideas. has anyone had trouble with the micro card slots before?

any suggestion is welcomed as this is doing my head in.

Just use pronterface on your pc. I never use the sd card

Hi Scamper,

I had the same issue with my Anet A8. I don’t know if the mainboard is the same as in the A6, but I had this issue twice with my printer. And to be honest: i think this is a hardware problem not easy to solve.

I also tried restarting and also reflashing using the latest Marlin versions, but sometimes it didn’t recognize my SD card slot. This was not predictable and not a software issue, because after restarting the printer 2-3 times it worked again like a charm.

At the moment I am using a Octopi and the USB interface between my Raspberry 3 and my printer and this is extremly stable. I don’t think you can do anything except restarting until it’s working again or also switching to USB printing (using your PC or also Octopi with Raspberry).

Perhaps it’s a bad connection on the board itself. There is a way to solve this by putting the mainboard into your oven in the kitchen (no joke!) for some minutes, this will solder the connections again. Thanks for the answer. I was a tv tech for many years and worked on smd boards a lot and have inspected every inch of the board for a dry joint with no luck.

After 2 days of trying everything to get the card to work I gave up and tried to work it through the usb using the software that came with it, but this was very archaic.

I will download pronterface and have a look at that and investigate octopi as I have a spare Pi at the moment.

I went up the shed this afternoon with the intention of putting the printer away as I was over it, but then turned it on to preheat to remove the filament and when I reset the sd 3 times it started working. low and behold it is 3 hours into a print with no problem.
