Back in 2013 we made our first test of photogrammetry to try to capture buildings and large objects.
Our main office in Sweden is located in Slottsmöllan which is an old industrial complex transformed into offices.
There is a large obelisk at the very entrance of the main building. We therefore chose that and used Autodesk 123D Catch to 3D-scan the object.
At the time we 3D-printed a small scale model with a fabbster 3D-printer. Now, several years later, we made another print with the Z18 from MakerBot.
Our conclusion is that 123D Catch really works well and yields nice files, detailed enough to print scale models of buildings.
