Can the new Artec Space Spider scanners handle small, extremely detailed items? I saw a scan on the Artec site of a PCB taht was scanned. While some of it looked really good, other parts were not great, like the Ethernet port, which has a pocket that didn’t show up. I’m looking for a handheld scanner that can be used to scan production parts and compare them to CAD models for QC. It would need to be able to accurately scan small diameter holes (Ø2.05mm) and their depths on parts down to that can be as small as around 10mm³ but as large as 400mm³ that also has many complex shapes and pockets of varying depths. I would also like the ability to scan large items, like a full size car, but that’s not required. We’ve inquired into the Faro products but we weren’t extremely impressed for the cost of the machines.
