Anyone in Sacramento have a 3d scanner? I have something in black plastic about 5 inches long and about 3 inches in diameter that I need digitized.

You might want to check out 123D. They have a free app that creates 3D models from regular 2D photos.
I haven’t messed with it myself but some people get better results from it than from MakerBot’s scanner and some of the others on the market. Here’s a pretty thorough interactive quality comparison I ran across.

123d Catch android ap worked but… I had to spray the item in Christmas spray on snow. That white stuff that goes on the windows. Took the pic while wet and it just washed right off afterwards.
The texture of the snow worked out perfectly.
It is has been a while since you asked, but if you are still looking, I heard the Sacramento Library of Things got a 3D scanner.
