Hi Everyone,

So I stumbled upon this blog post http://www.tridimake.com/2013/04/3D-printing-with-cheap-trimmer-line.html

Where a guy uses trimmer line to 3D Print with, something you would usually use for grass cutting now being used as a budget filament. Judge for yourself how well it works but I think the results are pretty good considering it was a 10 year old piece of plastic which had absorbed moisture and was definitely not built for this purpose. It will be interesting to see what other development we see in terms of unsual filament adoptions, have you ever tried something unusual or know about another household/garden product being surprisingly utilised in the 3D printing world.

Would love to hear your thoughts!?

Nice recycling project, George! @Luuk @hachu @elmoret you might find this interesting as well.

Thanks for sharing!

I am surprised with the experiments community members are doing. This proves that the future of 3d printing is great.

No surprize! Just need to find the right parameters…

I did the same with 2mm line from B&Q and was surprised how good the results were. I only tend to use Nylon for the odd job when it’s necessary. More often use ABS as I like to vapour smooth my prints. Only other comment is that there’s a limited range of colours for trimmer line but if you like the colours, hey! Why not?

I am willing to try. I will buy some meters from the retailer on the corner and let you know!!

=)

sounds good Henrique would love to hear your results.
