Dear furniture lovers and 3d printing pioneers,
I’d like to share with you my thoughts on 3d printable furniture since there are first approaches on printing larger scale objects already (even like whole buildings…).
In my opinion this large scale printing will become a big thing when it comes to a point where 3d printers can print faster and more efficiently. So having access to furniture will also become more and more comfortable. In my imagination someday you’ll just drop your data on a service like 3D hubs or even at any local do-it-yourself-store that offers large scale 3d printing and you’ll get your chair, lamp or even table sent to you. You can customize your furniture pieces in so many ways like color/material configurations, patterns and sooner or later tailor-made furniture – your perfectly fitting office chair…
I just started by creating my own furniture pieces (hopefully many will follow) and share them on my furnishapes.com 11 site. With this project I wanted to put forth like a totally digital furniture store which gives access to “Ready To Print” furniture. Even people without magnificent knowledge on 3d printing shall have the possibility to get their customized furniture pieces.
My conclusion:
1. Big scale 3d printers (as well as services) will become a big topic in closer future
2. Customizable furniture follows the trend of what we already know from e.g. car/fashion configurable products Last but not least: What are your thoughts on that topic? I’m very curious whats on your mind.
