We had an awesome week at CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
To all the folks who came out for our meetup on Tuesday, we would like to thank you and mention how much fun we had. It was great to see all the different hubs, companies and 3d enthusiasts join the event!
One of the themes which struck me over the course of the week was the desire across the 3DP community to remove existing barriers to entry to 3D Printing for the average citizen/consumer. From hardware manufacturers to those offering design software, there seemed to be a move towards higher degrees of collaboration, indicating a commonly held view of the need to work together to make 3D Printing accessible to everybody.
A few of the highlights from the week included Nervous System’s Kinematic Dress 2.0 from Autodesk. This light and flexible kinematic dress features over 3000 unique panels. MakerBot’s Ecosystem expansion, which includes support of PLA, ABS, FLX and DSLV filament, and the preview of 3D Systems’ CocoJetTM. Who doesn’t want to print their chocolate and eat it? Voxel8 caused a stir, and rightly so, with their release of the world’s first electronics 3D printer. This machine can co-print matrix materials like thermoplastics and highly conductive silver inks, Think highly customized electronic devices like quadcopters, electromagnets and fully functional 3D electromechanical assemblies. Spectrom 3D threw a splash of color into the mix unveiling their first true full color FDM 3D desktop printer add-on. It was great to catch up with the Formlabs team ahead of their New Year New Resolution as well.
There were a ton of other releases we were able to see, so it’s pretty clear 2015 will be an exciting (and hectic) year for 3D printing. Excellent!

Thanks for the update, Zach, really interesting stuff! Truth be told all that 3D printed food looked so inviting
