2D dwg import into 123d design?

I have a part that I have drawn in autocad 3d in 2d format. When I switch to 3d and extrude the part to my thickness and then import into 123d design the holes I had in the part appear to be solid and the rest of the part seem to be empty. Is there a trick to reverse this? I am a newbie so be gentle !!!
