I have had my makerbot for 2 years now. I had replaced the motherboard once. I had just finished a big project on it (9 hour print). I adjusted the build plate and it ran smooth. Then when I go to start a new print job it began to rattle like crazy and not move from the jogging position (home base). At first I thought it was the model so I tried leveling the build plate again but then the same thing happened. Any ideas as to what’s causing this?

It sounds like on of your endstops is not functioning? Can you run M119 in a console and manually trip each endstops to make sure they are working?
It could also be the x axis cable, find it on YouTube 
Yes I can manually move them so they aren’t physically stuck.
I know there are smaller boards that connect to the main board that control these steppers.
