As part of the 3D Hubs filament workshop tour, a stop is being made in our very own metropolis.
Join us all, the London community on the 24th March 7pm as we get our hands on the latest in 3D printing materials. Held in the fantastic co-working space come bar come café, The Hatch - Homerton, a perfect place for a budding creative and/or maker!
Organised in partnership with Colorfabb, you, our workshop attendees will be able to use the newly released filaments, learn which printers and print settings are best for the material and the possible applications. This makes it a BYOP (bring your own printer) event therefore you have the option to get really hands on with the knowledge and advice being shared.
In addition to learning how to use the filament, attendees are all given a custom-made Colorfabb sample pack containing the new special filament!
As usual it will still be a great opportunity to catch up with the rest of the community, talk about trending ideas/topics and act as a platform to showcase your 3D printed awesomeness!
Tickets can be purchased via the 3D Hubs event page, with a £12.50 ticket price ( a really great price for a host of cool swag )
Included in the price are the following:
Exclusive Filament [275g] Sample Pack (retail value: €20)
Sample of the new ColorFabb special filament
Filament workshop
Drinks & snacks
Look forward to seeing community members old and new.
Thanks for the invitation, Cinter chaps. TBH, the prospect of travelling on the tube with my printer and PC on the strength of some “special filament” doesn’t exactly give me chills of anticipation when, after all, ColorFabs last special filament was essentially a copy of Protopasta’s CF filled material. If this filament workshop involved several suppliers, it might be more attractive but since 3DHubs currently seems incapable of mentioning any other supplier, one can only deduce that this is a thinly disguised promotional event, where potential consumers are expected to pay for the privilege of attending. I already bought some Colorfabb sample boxes ( for which, despite my best efforts, no discount was applied ) so, if 3DHubs wishes to promote a particular supplier maybe the best course of action would be to address the basics before biting off something as ambitious as a “bring your own printer” training day.
I might attend if I can be confident that, ideally free, car parking will be available or if a cheaper non-BYOP option were available, if only to follow up on the challenge I made to ColorFabb a few weeks ago.
@Pot8oSH3D this is great feedback! @Filemon, @Simona and the rest of the community team are working on a range of meet ups that would be desirable to community members, of which this is a test case. Your ideas for making an event like this more appealing will definitely be useful for the 3DHubs team. In a Mayor hangout last night it was brought to the table to interact with other filament suppliers, this looks like it could be a feasible option. I don’t think the team are trying to conceal any other motivations although I can understand why you think that.
We will also have some printers available for those that bringing their own is a near impossibility, apologies if that came across as a necessity. Further discussions about possible discount options will no doubt be discussed but unfortunately not actioned on this occasion.
I completely understand all your points, for us this is just a start in these kind of events and we’re willing to experiment with different partners. The choice on this Colorfabb filament was just the natural prosecution for the discount that every Hub has, but for the next ones we’re already thinking on new materials and partners. If you’ve any suggestion on that, please let us know! We’ll work for making it happen
I have had a few requests about parking. News is there is some, yeah!
There is on street parking, it is free after 6.30pm on Sedgwick St, Barnabas Road, Berger Road and Oriel Road. Before 6.30pm it is pay as you go but it should be relatively reasonable. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a line with any more queries at contact@cinterdesign.com. We will be on hand to help with any lifting or anything if required.
I’m just checking with the 3D Hubs team to see if we can sort you something out. The event is now sold out which is why I think you cannot get onto the link.
