what is the best 3d design software for beginnings been using photoshop illustrator for 20 years

so ok with design look at SolidWorks and looks very complicated

That’s like asking what’s the best religion. It’s very opinionated. I vote for sketchup for new users though fusion 360 or inventor may be good as well.

I was a 2D guy myself for a long time. The best way to understand 3D modelling is with tinkercad.com online design software. Start with geometries and holes.

For beginners, I am partial to OnShape. Easy enough and excellent tutorials (they even supply CC on the videos and transcripts of the videos for people who need it - Yay).

I use Blender 3D, myself. But, as people will tell you, it has a steep learning curve. I have been using it for years and still find new things almost every time I create a new project.

But, really - look at a bunch of them. See what makes sense to you and can do what you want it to. Then stick with it. Don’t jump around and try to learn a number of systems. At least, not until you have a good grasp of the 3D world and how objects are put together. Find your program and burrow in. That’s the fastest way to get workable designs up and printed.

Another +1 for OnShape. Free to use, tons of tutorials. If you learn OnShape well, you would be able to use SolidWorks with very little catching up (of course SolidWorks as a ton of extra advanced features, I’m speaking generally). Fusion 360 is also pretty cool, competitor to OnShape. If you learn Fusion 360 well, those skills will translate best to AutoDesk Inventor.

In the big picture, any skills learned will translate. But OnShape was created by the original founders of SolidWorks, so it has a very similar feel. Have fun!
