For the first We The Builders project 70 worldwide makers were needed to print all 110 pieces of the George Crowdsourcington sculpture. After lots of gluing, the bust debut at the NY 3D Print Show and then traveled all over the country to over a dozen events. On Monday August 4th the second crowdsourced 3d printed sculpture was launched: Distributed Benjamin Franklin. The sculpture was first scanned and the model was then sliced up into 198 pieces using netfabb.

Anyone who owns a 3D printer can now log in and download one block of the sculpture, 3D print it and mail it back to Baltimore where the parts are again getting glued together. For more information sign up at http://www.wethebuilders.com/. Anyone concidering taking part?
