Wanhao i3 won't print new files but prints old ones

Hi, anyone experiencing this problem please help, it prints any files that I have previously printed but any new file I try to print it doesn’t work. It just goes back to printer ready. I use simplify 3D, I haven’t changed any setting. And also tried old FFF setting. Still no joy.
Please help. this is my video demostrating it

Are you printing via USB or sd card? Try printing with another software for starters like cura or matter control. If they work then it must be something to do with simplify.

thanks for the reply, I use the micro sd card to print. Will try the cura again and see if it works, just you don’t get support structures with that so prefer simplify 3D.

Ive tried to go back to old setting I had with simplify 3D and still didn’t work so can’t work out what is wrong.

Will try cura tonight and see if it works.

I think you will find it is a bad SD card. You can try backing up and deleting everything that is currently on the card, then add your new file and try printing it. It will probably work OK, but even if it does, I would recommend getting yourself a good quality replacement microSD card.

Deffo worth getting a new sd card. I print via USB so I do not face this issue.

look at the gcode files on the SD from the computer and make sure they load correctly on the computer. We have seen that when the files are saved to the SD they are corrupted and changing the SD to a new one fixes that. I don’t think the very long file names have anything to do with it but you could try a short filename. If you need a good FFF profile to go by you can look at section at the bottom of this page: Duplicator i3 Factory Documentation & Files « 3d Printer Tips and Mods Wiki

I didn’t see any mention of long file names but it could be an issue. There are definite limitations based on the operating system and file system. If you think this is a possibly problem then try a test with a “short” file path and limit the length of names. Example [\\Test](file://\Test) Prints\My file.xxx

Also watch out for “special” or reserved characters in file names as they can cause problems.

Thanks for all the help guys, it was the micro SD card in the end, the old files were already on the SD card from previous prints so guess it was working them, and for some reason the card must have stopped transferring the files properly now.

was an old card i had from a phone years ago as i only need a small one. Took the newer one out of my gopro and seems ok now is printing at the moment. Will buy a new small card now for this.
