Hi 3D Hubs,
Got my new I3. On my Windows machine, for some reason, the printer won’t get connected to Simplify3D. I can connect via Cura, Pronterface and even OctoPrint (which is now my primary print slicing option). Does any using Simplify3D facing similar issues? Someone in a 3D print community in FB was advising me to install a FTDI driver. However, I’m not sure what to do. Any help will be much appreciated.
The i3 is very finicky with S3D because of the startup timeout. I fixed mine by disabling the auto-reset jumper, but TBH, it’s more reliable to just put it on the SD card, so that’s what I do for long prints, and I think it’s more convenient to use Octoprint on my RasPi for everything else, so I just slice in S3D and send it to the printer one of those two ways.

Well that’s exactly what I wanted to do. But then, the SD card slot seems pretty unreliable in my case. I had a couple of times print stop abruptly while printing via SD card and I can see an error message on the LCD saying card error. After I get such message, the card won’t even connect with the machine.
So, currently my only reliable option seems to be printing via USB using octoPi. Works perfectly. Will try slicing files in S3D and printing via OctoPi
I had to install the FTDI driver to get my I3 working with anything, and even so it’s still pretty finicky. I’m on the wrong machine right now, but I’ll try to dig up the driver link I used when I get home and post it here.
**EDIT** These are the ones that worked for me: VCP Drivers - FTDI
You might need to do the install procedure twice, since - in my experience - the first time installs the driver for an adaptor but the machine still doesn’t recognize the device attached to that adaptor. At any rate, I hope this helps.

Do a full read/write test on your card - you may have faulty media. If in doubt, buy a real name-brand card from a reputable retailer and use that - there are a lot of fake and poor quality SD cards out there, unfortunately.

This is the card that was provided by WanHao. Will try other branded one and see if it is any better on the printer.
