my wanhao duplicator 4 has recently developed a fault were the left extruder doesnt sence any temprature. i have changed the thermocouple and checked all of the wires but i cant find any bad connections.does anyone know how to fix this?

thanks

Most duplicators I fixed gave an error on reading temperature when the thermocoupler had failed.

I don’t think it matters if the wires are crossed but you could check that just to be sure.

One printer that came in had temperature problems, the soldering of the connector came loose from the mainboard.

But that also resulted in a temperature failure on the display.

You could swap the left and right thermocouplers on the hot end and the wires in the connector to see if that makes a difference.

does the temperature of the extruder rise? do a preheat test and check manually (do not burn yourself! a fast touch will be enough, if the fan still works you don’t even need to touch it) if it doesn’t then it’s bad connection, you should check better, there’s no other way

or it might still be bad thermocouple, even if you already changed it

Hi thanks for the reply I will check the wirining again and I will check the soldering joint. Before it said 0c it said 600c and an error came up but then that disappeared and it said 0c then.

I will also try a preheat.

thanks

i have looked at all of the connections and the soldering and i did a quick preheat and it heated up but still said 0c

well, this is pretty weird. if the temp rises then thermocouple is just fine, if no temp is detected than it’s likely that the temp sensor is broken or badly connected to lcd or thermocouple (or both)

That’s just a supposition but I think that’s the only thing that might be happening

You could try just switching the temp sensor that is working to the left side connector position on the main board. If the wire assembly for the right side reads properly when connected to the left side connection…you then have determined that the fault is not in the main board but in the wire assembly and sensor that is normally plugged in here. Only do this for a quick check. Be sure to put the right side thermocouple assembly back where it belongs after the check.

If this check shows that you are reading the left side temp using the working wire assembly and thermocouple…the error is then somewhere in the thermocouple wire assembly. It might be cheaper to just order the parts and reassemble the non working side.

i have just switched the thermocouplets so that the left was connected to the right one on the board and when i heated the left the temp went up on the right so i checked all of the connections again but i didnt find any loos wires
