GoPro Ball: This is a six inch (15cm) diameter ball that the GoPro Hero4 Session can be inserted into. It can be 3D printed using rubber-like filament or some other flexible material. The purpose of this is to expose the GoPro to diverse situations it has never handled before. Throw it around at the park, play mini sports, fetch with your dog, party games, try bouncing it across the water at the beach, toss it around the audience at a concert, drop it down a waterfall, and capture every moment in amazing 1080p60 footage! The GoPro Ball floats in water and is slightly weighted so that the camera will capture the most action. With its strong and versatile design, the applications are limitless. OK! Here we go! Admittedly, I’m not the greatest CAD designer on Earth. Probably not in my street but, hey! Here’s my entry. It’s a holder for the new GoPro that can be used as a Tinkerplay component. I designed the case in Fusion360 ( 45x45x40mm with mainly 12mm fillets minus 35x35x35mm with 7.5mm fillets on 4 sides ) ,exported it to STL, then imported that to Tinkercad and attached some Tinkerplay ends from the library. Aaaaaaand…Voila!!
The original idea was to make it a Tinkerplay head, with big ears, a hipster haircut and a single-lens RayBan Wayfarer. Maybe a nice beard and moustache too, but I couldn’t make it to the Fusion 360 training and would have ended up throwing my Mac out of the window before the design was finished. I’m not sure quite how practical it is, as you probably can’t get to the controls and once it’s fitted, you might have problems getting the GoPro out but I think it’s a kinda interesting concept and it could be a stepping-off point for all kinds of cool “X-pod” designs for the GoPro. Just goes to show how easy it is too. If I can do it, anyone can!
Thought I’d try a rather more practical version. This time with provision for 3 legs and access to the button! Not practical. Just more practical! And no more easy to print!
