print problems

This is my third time typing this due to internet problems so I am going to make it short. Putting glue down on a layer of tape instead of using rafts worked perfectly for the first 5ish prints, but every recent print the base of the thing has been bent up in a rounded cone shape. I am adding plenty of glue and as far as I can see the piece is not bending up whilst it’s on the print bed but I could be wrong. It only appears to bend whilst its off the bed. Everything is perfectly straight except the base, I don’t even know how this is really possible because everything is how it is supposed to be except the base but watching it for the first couple minutes the base prints flat. Do you know what I am having problems with? I print on the da vinci jr 1.0 which is PLA. Thanks -Perry

What type of material? What type of printer? What type of glue and tape?

PLA, Da Vinci JR. 1.0, Elmers X-treeme school glue stick, Duck General purpose painters tape. But as the piece itself is actualy printing the base does not appear to be bent up.

My assumption is that this is ABS.

ABS requires that you keep your build area pretty warm.

I keep the platform very warm 110c. It also helps if you turn off active cooling fan.

An enclosed print area is a must.

Experiment with temperature and speed.

Finally, the best result is if you print onto glass, using Aquanet hairspray as your substrate instead of a glue stick.

PS, if this is not ABS, then you need active cooling on your PLA.

It is PLA and my printer does not have active cooling or a heated bed, I print on Duck painters tape.

OK. PLA really wants active cooling. If you do not have it, that is what is causing this.

If you can add a fan, do it!

If not, then you have to lower your temperature as much as possible, and print slowly.

A fan blowing on the PLA, but not the extruder, as much as possible, will give you a good idea of why active cooling with PLA works.

I found out what the problem is, the tape was peeling up itself not the glue. I think it is the heat from the PLA itself was causing the tape to peel.
