Has anyone got any dope on the carbon fiber onyx?
Hi Matt, what would you like to know?
Absolutely lovely material. No shrinking, no warping, perfect finish, great for functional parts. Strong as well!
Surely recommned it, and is surely one of the top materials available out there.
Printed some electronics enclosures with it, turned out perfectly. Great for short run functional parts.
We use Onyx and love it.
incredible surface finish, with more strength and stiffness than ABS.
Seems exclusive to Markforged though.
Onyx One printer can be had for $3500. It’s a very solid machine.
Onyx is a proprietary material for Markforged printers. It’s a combination of nylon and chopped fiber. It’s very durable and light and with the right geometry, very strong. The Markforged X can print Onyx in 50 micron layers. The parts come out near injection molded finish. My customers love the material and it’s price too. Win - Win in my book!
Hello Matt,
as 3D printing services company, working with Onyx ha shut us it in a higher competitive position among other makers. Onyx is more suitable for complex geometries, helps to avoid warping, surface finishing is superb without any extra post-processing. Light and very strong parts are made with the option of fiber reinforcement. It is one of the outstanding materials at the market for a very competitive price.
