I designed and printed these soap trays with purple ABS and I’ve been trying to keep it mounted in my shower with a variety of double sided mounting tape like Scotch “Extreme” Mounting Tape. Overtime, the trays almost always fall off even if it holds for weeks, I think the variable temperature and the presence of moisture messes with the adhesive. I’ve also tried doubling up on the mounting brackets to increase the amount of adhesive. Does anyone know of a non-permanent adhesive that I could try to keep these trays in place without ruining the shower?

Hi @willdeng I’m not sure there’ll be any adhesive that’s both non-permanent and able to stand the environment of a shower. Personally, I’d get some of those sucker things that attach to the tiles, then adapt the shelf part to use them as the supports. Can’t recommend any in particular, but Googling will give you a whole bunch to choose from. Over the years I’ve used good and bad ones, the bad ones were pretty useless but the good ones stick like rock, so it’s worth shopping around.

Yep. I had the same problem with ABS. Its absorbing water, shrinking and unshrinking. The law of thermodynamics is the issue.
Perhaps print in a less facile material. Try PLA or petg.

Great ideas guys. I’ll look for suction cups and I’ll also try printing the brackets in a different material.

You could also look for the 3M command strips. They build ones specifically for mounting soap dishes and hooks in showers. These are built for heat and wet. They also are about 2mm thick so there is some room for flexing. I think this would be the best double-sided tape that you could use. Built for wet and easy to remove.
