Is there a way to get my Monoprice Maker Select Plus to work with my SAMSUNG Chromebook, or did I just buy an oversized paperweight?

First off - the specifications on the printer are clear you need Windows / Mac / Linux to run software. You would need to find a slicer that can operate on Chrome OS or have someone slice each print for you and send you the GCODE to put on the SD card.

You could try a web-based slicer like this one: Kiri:Moto 306

You can export the gcode from there, save it to the SD card and then print from the SD card.

Overall, you’re going to have a subpar experience (no matter what 3d printer you’re using) without a proper computer though

the specs didn’t state that they were using an outdated firmware from makerbot. Marlin open source firmware would make more compatible, kind of strange that the cad pad I used updated the Cura slicer on my sd card

Well, good luck. Firmware is a real sticker on a lot of these since they may use a modified version of the main release. Common for Marlin also. Some of them don’t really have a consumer friendly update method either. You have to get in with a programmer and that gets tricky.

Hit up the google groups for this printer and see what they have to say. I think one thing though is you will need some type of a windows pc to get things going.

At minimum you should be able to generate a model in tinkercad or something else and then load the STL into an on-line slicer to generate the gcode then download that to a SD card and at least get something to work.

Still, check the google groups or look for a facebook group for the printer. These can be very good resources.
