Hello,
I’m collecting failed\wrong\corrupted\glitched 3D prints. Where can I find more?
I’m interested in all kind of models that failed during the printing process, and I’m interested in already printed models, not in digital 3D models designed following some kind of glitch aesthetic.
Does anyone have any defective 3D prints that I could obtain?
To give you a general sense of what I’m thinking and what I’m interested in please look at the images I’m attaching.
I’m based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but I can easily organize international shipping. Feel free to contact me here or in private with any questions you may have, my email is: hello@emiliovavarella.com
Thanks a lot,
Emilio

Great! Could you send a picture of it to hello@emiliovavarella.com ?
Thank you!
I would be happy to send you all of my scap I have made over the past 3 years let me know. What do you want it for?

Hi Jacob, that would be awesome, thank you very much for your offer. I am collecting these kind of “errors” so that I can understand how to look at them in a new way. I’m an artist fascinated by technological glitches. I collect them and organize them in different ways, so that they show something new about the world we live in. For example this is an article by WIRED on my collection of glitches from Google Street View: These Glitches From Google Maps Are Worthy of an Art Gallery | WIRED
I have a few other projects on my website that use a similar approach, for example reorganizing Facebook’s wrong portraits (here ).
When you have a chance please send me an email (hello@emiliovavarella.com ) so that I can give you my address and we can talk about details. Thanks again and speak soon!
What do you prefer, the actual failed prints in hand or pictures of them? I’ve been 3d printing for several years now so I have a few failed prints lying around that I am not proud of :).
Hi, thanks for your reply! I am looking for the actual objects, but I would love to see pics of what you have to decide if they are the kind of artifacts I’m looking for. Would you be able to send a couple representative photos to: hello@emiliovavarella.com ? Thanks a lot and have a nice Sunday

Hi @emiliovavarella I have a whole box of failed/inaccurate prints. Most of them are not “interesting” as they were discarded for minor reasons rather than catastrophic failures like those in your pictures, but I’ve some that are pretty extreme. I’m in the UK though, so shipping won’t be cheap…

Hi @cobnut , thanks for your reply. International shipping is not a problem if you have some interesting failed prints. Would you be able to email me some representative pictures at hello@emiliovavarella.com ?
Thanks a lot, and looking forward to hearing back from you.
Emilio
Hi again, I just wanted to say that I’m still interested in seeing those prints, whenever you have the time to share them with me. Thanks a lot, Emilio
Hi again @cobnut . I just wanted to touch base and see if you’re still interested in sending me your misprints (I’m especially interested in your most extreme ones). I hope to hear back from you soon and see what you have. Thanks a lot in advance for your time. Emilio

Hi @emiliovavarella haven’t had a chance to look yet. Not sure how many “extreme” failures I have, but I’ll find time over the weekend to have a look.
Wonderful, thanks! I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and I’ll contact you next week if I don’t hear anything before. Best, -emilio
Hi @Blown454 I just wanted to send you a friendly reminder regarding the 3D failures and also tell you that I’m going to be technology-free until the end of August starting next week. So, if I don’t hear back from you in the next few days I’ll get in touch again on the first week of September. All the best - emilio
Hi @cobnut - did you have a chance to look for past 3D failures? I’ll be happy to take a look at whatever you’ve got. All the best!
Hi @Blown454 - please let me know if you’re still interested in helping me out with this research. All the best, emilio!
