3DHubs says (about “Jetting”): “Jetting (material jetting) allows for a single part to be produced from multiple materials with different properties. It’s very precise and produces a very smooth finish. The materials are melted and then selectively jetted…”. Then they list several 3DSystems ProJet machines that apply this technology… As far as I know, ProJet’s are based on resin curing with UV, not material melting.

You are correct. There are a couple different technology that use the word “jetting” but as far as I know, none of them involve melting anything. You are also correct that machines like the ProJet deposit small droplets of resin and cures them with UV. There are also “binder jetting” machines which deposit a mix of powder and binding material.
Pretty sure that’s a mistake.

Thanks, Jesse. There’s a lot of incorrect information about 3D printing in different sources. This is a good remind to me, that even the sources that I have considered as reliable may not always be that reliable…

Indeed, this is incorrect! With material jetting the liquid raw material is jetted and cured with UV light, whereas with binder jetting the binding agent is jetted onto the bed, selectively binding the powder. We’ll fix it shortly, thanks for the heads-up.

I found it this way:
- go to main page
- scroll down to “3. Select a 3D printing Hub”
- select “More filters” (grey box on right)
- scoll down to “Printer Type”
- select “Jetting” from pull down menu.

Ok, found out the issue is known. We’ve got a bigger material/technology update planned for early next year. Won’t fix until that time. It doesn’t help now, but hope it explains. Cheers
