Is it possible to to customize this widget so that it submits an STL from the server hosting the button (i.e. my own site) or an external URL so that the user isn’t required to upload their own model? I’ve got an object available on Thingiverse and rather than have less than savvy users first download the model, then upload it to 3D hubs, I’d like to help simplify the process.

Hi!

First, I love the order widget. It’s been a great addition to my site and service and will definitely be continuing to use it!

I am wondering if it’s possible to change the styling of the button? I’ve tried to add an additional class to the button and apply custom styling, but it’s overwritten with default styling, or breaks the widget altogether. Is there a way to add custom styling to the widget so that it more closely matches the theme/style of my site?

Thanks for the help!

I’d also be very interested in being able to style the button to fit my site.

Hey Filemon,

Would you be able to provide a list of different website builders that support the Order Widget?

It can be integrated into most of-the-shelf software packages, I’ve seen Wordpress and Squarespace quite often. Many other packages should support it as long as it allows you to embed a piece of custom code.

Let me know if you have a specific tool you’re looking at and we can check it out.

Brian

Thanks for the response Brian. I am looking to add it to a word press site. How would I go about doing that?

Hi @Jinxbot, you can simply copy paste the code of the order widget on the location where you want the widget to appear on your site. Usually this should be pretty straightforward. Let me know if it works out, cheers! Filemon

Thanks for looking into this for me. Please let me know if you hear anything. Also, please feel free to reach out as I would love to help troubleshoot this with you and your team.

Thanks again!

Hi @Jinxbot,

Our developers got back to me: “WordPress.com blogs don’t support custom JavaScript (for security reasons) by simply stripping out the scripts, and thus don’t support our widget either. If the Hub is using a self-hosted WordPress site (so not WordPress.com), there are plugins that allow embedding JavaScript, but otherwise it’s unsupported.”

So, the solution would be to have a plugin on a self-hosted Wordpress site. Other than that, it would not be possible unfortunately.

Hope that clarifies!

Here’s a note on the order widget - It doesn’t appear to work if you are logged into 3D Hubs and try it yourself? I have a few buttons on my site - http://www.chunkymedia.co.uk/ 1 and always get a 403 forbidden (in the browser console) after the “choose delivery” and you get a yellow warning bar along the top of the page stating something went wrong “Ouch, there was an error submitting your order. Please try again or contact us.”. Can you confirm that the order widget doesn’t work if logged in?

Steve

Yeah, they have advised you can’t log orders to yourself while logged in as yourself. I locked myself out of my 3D Hubs Dash testing it too many times too! They are going to look at the widget to see if they can get better feedback error messages.

Hi, I was wondering if it could be possible to somehow localize the embedded order widget. I have both French and English speaking customers and would like to accomodate them all. Thanks in advance!

Hey @Francis_Pelleti, unfortunately at the moment we don’t offer localization options for the order widget, however it is on the roadmap for our Product team and will likely be added later this year

Hello Filemon!

I’m planning to add the button/widget to my site, but I need to ask you something. Is there any possibility to the switch language of the API? I guess is not a simple matter, since 3Dhubs is in english…but I don’t lose anything asking! hahaha

I need the plugin to work in portuguese, since I’m working a lot locally…

Tell me if there’s any possibility and if you need help, I can assist you, for sure!

Best regards!

Edgar

PS: Sorry, I just saw someone else asked for the same thing… Maybe you can count with many interested people in order to make the translations! I would help for portuguese and spanish with no problem.

Hi @Concreta3D, at the moment unfortunately it’s not possible to localize the API. Our Product Team is scheduled to work on this later during the year. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted!
