I just bought a MP Select Mini from Amazon (was an open-box special). The machine had been used, but is working fine.

Observations:

  • Wifi works by default - no firmware update needed.
  • It has the black z-axis leadscrew coupler.
  • White sheet metal frame.
  • No under-bed insulation

How can I tell if this is a V1 or V2 unit?

Sounds like you have a later update of V1.

Thanks @froggy2288. What are the big benefits of V2? If I ordered a *new* one instead of the open box from Amazon, is it likely I would get a V2?

Also, how can we report spam replies? the other reply to this question is just an advertising spam for someone’s “do my homework” site.

Not sure on the full list of improvements but the biggest are the better bed surface (not just tape), electronic cooling fan, and the “better” hot-end. Oh and it is black. I do not know if the V2 of the V1 are shipping form amazon but honestly it really doe snot matter much since you can and should make the changes on the V1. I recommend glass with PEI for the V1 and go ahead and print an adapter mount for a E3D hot-end in case you stock one ever fails (mine V1 has been running strong for probably over 1000 printing hours so far).

Do you know if the stock hot end tips are interchangeable for smaller diameter (i.e 0.2mm)?
